SPACE4YOU: Space, a driver for competitiveness and growth is the international event organized by Apulia Region and NEREUS, the Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies, last 27-28 February 2014, in Bari, Italy.
During the two days of workshops delegates from the European Commission, Space Agencies, universities, research bodies and European Regions involved in NEREUS met to discuss about “Space, a driver for competitiveness and growth”, sharing their knowledge and expertise, and with the goal of launching from the year 2014 a common EU strategy for Space technologies.
Space technologies have become an important part of everyday life. Participants presented how the use of space assets, and applications, is crucial for European regions, to foster new business opportunities and to address social, economic and environmental challenges with efficient and sustainable tools.
The agenda included user-driven sessions, thematic sub-sessions, round tables and special events.
This Conference allowed therefore the international space community, under the auspices of NEREUS and the Apulia Region, to pave the way for a reinforced action towards a continuous and systematic use of space data and technologies in Europe. NEREUS and Apulia Region want to play a key role in this process, and the results of this International Conference will help them to build a concrete strategy and its relevant implementation plan starting from 2014.
Planetek Italia, member of the Apulian Aerospace District and Planetek Hellas, member of the si-cluster (Hellenic Space Technologies and Applications Cluster) and the Hellenic Association of Space Industries (HASI), are actively involved in major programmes in the agenda of NEREUS network and Apulia Region (SHIRA programme and Data Fusion Centre).
